I am a pain medicine specialist and anesthesiologist. I have spent 25 years in clinical practice, seen more than 65,000 patients, co-founded Canada's Pain Medicine subspecialty, and spoken at TEDxSurrey about what modern life is quietly doing to our bodies.
I am also a patient. I had cancer: metastatic thyroid cancer, a large abdominal tumor, surgery complications, and osteoporosis. And what I learned on the other side of that experience changed the way I practice medicine and the way I live in my own body.
