This Privacy Policy explains how BrendaLauMD.com and any associated pages or subdomains (collectively, the “Site”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects Personal Information (as defined below). 

This Site is intended solely for educational purposes. It is not a clinical platform and is not intended to receive personal health information or provide medical care. Communications with us do not establish a physician-patient relationship. 

By using this Site, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. 

We will post any changes we make to the Privacy Policy on this page and include the date the Privacy Policy was last updated at the top of this page. If we make material changes to how we treat your Personal Information, we will notify you through a notice on the Site’s home page. This Privacy Policy applies to:

This Policy does not apply to clinical services provided by CHANGEpain Clinic Inc. other healthcare organizations. Clinical interactions are governed by separate health privacy policies and health privacy laws.

This Site is operated from Canada and is accessible for a global audience for educational purposes only.

This Site is not a clinical communication tool.

Do not send medical questions, symptoms, diagnoses, treatment information, or other personal health information through this Site or by email.

We do not provide individualized medical advice, triage, clinical assessment, or therapeutic recommendations.

Communications to [email protected] do not establish a physician–patient relationship.

Messages containing clinical questions may not receive a reply and may be deleted to protect your privacy.

to third parties and service providers to assist us in operating our Site and services (e.g., website hosting, IT and system administration, analytics, email delivery). These providers are permitted to process Personal Information only for authorized purposes; must protect and handle the data using appropriate safeguards in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws;

to our professional advisers including lawyers, accountants, auditors, and insurers where reasonably necessary;

to advertisers and advertising network that require the information to select and serve relevant advertisements to you and others. We do not disclose data about identifiable individuals to our advertisers, but we may provide them with aggregate information : about our users (for example, we may inform them that 400 women between 30 and 45 have clicked on their advertisement on a specific day). We may make use such aggregate information to help advertisers target a specific audience (for example, people in a specific location). We may make use of the Personal Information we have collected from you to enable us to display our advertiser’s advertisement to that target audience;

In accordance with applicable law, to a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of the Site’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which Personal Information held by us about you is among the assets transferred;

Privacy rights available under the laws of jurisdictions outside Canada—such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and others—may not apply to your use of this Site. Your rights are governed by BC PIPA and, where applicable, Canada’s PIPEDA.

12. Data Security

We have implemented reasonable technical, administrative, and physical security measures to protect your personal data from:

Access to personal data is limited to individuals who have a business need to know such information and who are required to keep it confidential.
